Your Results. Your Responsibility.

Time to sweep the dust off this blog! My apologies. This is LONG overdue and I’ll give you guys an update ASAP!

But for now, let’s talk business…or shall I say responsibility.

As some of you’ve seen, I’ve had a lot of success since my last blog in terms of competing. I placed 4th at my “coming out of retirement” show and then took the Overall Champion title at my second show – The Ferrigno Legacy – 5 weeks later. I couldn’t be any happier with the outcome of my efforts and I sincerely want to thank all of you for the support and motivation….so thank you 🙂

I know you’re thinking “alright Jamie, where are you going with this”? LOL.

Here’s my point. The ONLY person that was responsible for the outcome of my goals was ME. Wow, crazy thought, hey? No one in the world could do it for me. My coach didn’t have any “secret” plans or weapons, no short cuts, no quick fix, no easier way to do it. And, not once did I ask for any of that. I had to put in the work. The HARD work and there was a LOT of it – 22 weeks to be exact. Not one of which was easy. But, every second was worth it, every tear, tantrum (oh ya, full on hissy fits at times!), resisting temptation, declining invitations or food, every single choice I made was worth it. The key word in all of this is “I”. I made these choices and decisions. I committed to myself what I was going to do. And, I put everything into it. You can either commit to something or not. But, you can’t do it 50% and expect to reach your goal. Do you jump out of a plane or do you kinda jump out of plane? Do you buy a house or do you kinda buy a house? Let’s think about it, shall we?

I know we’ve all heard the saying “don’t be disappointed by the results you didn’t get with the work you didn’t put in” or whatever it is. The reality is, if you want something you’re going to have to put in the effort & hard work to get it….weight loss, muscle, a house, job, etc. The only person that will get you there is YOU.

The steps to reach your goal may not always be comfortable or easy, I understand that for sure. I get that changing habits isn’t easy for many of us. Taking on a new lifestyle can be really hard. Stepping outside of your “normal” can feel uncomfortable at times. So, you’re going to let that stop you? REALLY????

Take responsibility for not only what you’re doing right now at this very moment but where you want to go. You come to me looking to change your lifestyle or achieve a certain goal. Fantastic! I love when people want to better themselves. But, if you’re not ready to hear the truth, make changes in your life and be uncomfortable at times, then don’t waste your time or money…or mine. Be happy with where you are right now but don’t complain about it and don’t ask for help to change if you honestly don’t want to or aren’t ready to do so.

Bottom line is this – I cannot do it for you. You want to lose weight? Compete? Put on some muscle? I’ll show you the way in the healthiest manner possible. I’ll support you to an extent. I’ll educate you as much as I can and help make your journey as easy possible. I, however, cannot hold your hand and whip out my invisible magic wand and give you results. This is now up to you to execute the plan. If you do or don’t, if you put in half the effort, you don’t do the work, the only person you have to blame is yourself. You also have yourself to thank for any victories along the way!

With everything in life, you have to be content with who you see in the mirror. I know when it’s my turn to grace the stage next, I don’t want to think “dang, I shoulda coulda woulda”. I want to know that I did everything I could within my power to reach my goal. My coach, life, spouse, friends, whatever circumstances are not to blame for any shortcomings. I am responsible for what I put in because in the end, whatever I put in is what I get out.

It all comes down to YOU. Take ownership of what you’re doing or not doing.

Your life. Your results. 1 degree of separation.
